Photography is very similar to being a chef. You develop a method of combining different ingredients until you start achieving a consistent result. You also have to do what you love, and trust your own palate. If someone wants to eat your food, or have you photograph them, they should expect that you will do it in the style you have developed. If they don’t like your style, then like a restaurant, they should go somewhere that better suits their tastes. Consistency and quality get sacrificed when you start making too many compromises just to get people to like what you are doing.
